At it Again...well, maybe!

I have finally decided to put up another post after a 3 month hiatus.  This exhausted mama felt less pressure to document every little thing as soon as Sawyer turned one.  We did have an amazing summer together, though.  I've always felt sad for summers to end, but it was even harder this year, especially since Sawyer is so much fun now.  Over the summer, after the dreadful beach trip, we attended music classes, library classes, visited parks and had several play dates.  We had our first trip to Charlotte and spent a week in Thomaston.

Sawyer has quickly changed from a baby into a little boy.  He does something new and cute everyday.  He can now say mama, dada, banana and several color words.  He also does great with his sign language.  His favorite things to do are play with his large legos, slide, type on the i pad, and watch Rio (he's actually obsessed with this movie).

Since it has been such a long time, I have so many pictures and so much new information to share, but I'll spare everyone and just post a few of my favorites from the summer.

Beach Baby

Jared and I have waited for the moment we could take Sawyer to the beach since I became pregnant!  We are both obsessed with the beach, almost to the point we almost bought Salt Life stickers to go on our cars.  We go to Orange Beach in Alabama every year.  We even took our "babymoon" there.  Well, the time had FINALLY come!  Sawyer turned a year old so we knew it would be the perfect time for our family to go on his first trip to the beach.  MAJOR LET DOWN!!!!  Sawyer HATED the beach...the sand, the water, the heat...ALL of it.  He literally cried 80% of the time.  He woke up...cried...went to the beach...cried....took a nap....cried....went out to dinner...CRIED.  I needed a vacation from our vacation.  In he defense, he was cutting his two upper teeth and fighting a cold (aside from the fact that he just flat out HATED the beach).  Oh well.  I guess there's always next year.  The occasional smiles in the following picture are very deceiving...

 

 



12 Months AKA One YEAR!

What a year!  Being a mommy is the most difficult yet rewarding job on the planet. I blinked, and all of a sudden, my 8lb 4oz, 20 inch long baby became a 20lb, 28 inch long little boy.  We have had our share of ups and downs, like all first time prents do, but it is quite amazing how it's all of the wonderufl memories that stick out the most.  At times, I miss all of the sweetness of a newbown (especially the "squeashiness"), but the interaction I now get from Sawyer is so much fun.  He now walks all of the time, has 4 teeth, eats table foods, laughs and talks a lot (still no words we can make out), and yes, has even began throwing the infamous temper tantrums (I could definitely do without those).  He loves throwing balls (among other things) and playing pat-a-cake.

We had Sawyer's birthday party on his actual birthday.  It was a nautical theme and I had so much fun planning for it.  He had a great turn out filled with all of our family and friends.  He is one blessed little boy and we are blessed to be his parents!

 

 



11 Months

 

WOW...it's true what they say!  Don't blink, because time flies by.  Sawyer is now 11 months old and we'll soon have a one year old on our hands.  It seems as though he does something new every day.  In month 11, he has learned to throw a ball, stands on his own, takes a couple of steps here and there and climbs over everything.  This age is so much fun and makes me look forward to SO much.  We took Sawyer to Auburn for the first time to see the spring game and roll Toomer's for the last time.  It was so special making that memory with him and Jared. I am beyond excited this is my last month of school and will be spending tons of time with my little pumpkin this summer.  We are registered for a mommy and me singing class, going on his first beach trip and, of course, celebrating his first birthday.  He's still holding out around 18.5 lbs with only two bottom teeth.  It will be interesting to see if he ends up a shorty like his mommy or super tall like his daddy. :)

I still LOVE to eat anything my mommy decides to feed me.  I've figured out how to beg for food mommy and daddy are eating as well, especially if it is bananas or greek yogurt.

Sawyer's First Easter

This Easter was bittersweet.  We realized that this would be Sawyer's "last, first holiday."  It just doesn't seem possible.  We kicked off the festivities with an Easter Egg Hunt at his day care.  He actually participated very well by picking up the eggs I would squat beside and, of course, placing each and every one in his mouth.  He would then proceed to put them in the basket, and then out, over and over.  The other children were so cute helping him out.  For Easter weekend, we stayed with Aunt Bethany and Uncle Wynn.  We went to Senoia to see where they film the Walking Dead, had dinner with Nonnie & Poppy one night, and Easter lunch with Mimi, Papa Bill, Elyn, Jamie & Jennifer.  The Easter bunny brought Sawyer a lot of goodies!  An outfit, books, bubbles, beach toys, etc.  We look forward to one day getting to explain the true meaning behind Easter and why we celebrate it.  I thank God for sacrificing his Son so that now I can enjoy mine.  We have so many blessings to be grateful for.

Included are his bunny session photos.  Let's just say these pictures do not depict the horror that was experienced.  Sawyer screamed bloody murder when he saw the bunny.  The only way we could get a picture with it was to put it in a bucket.  In his defense, it was a freakishly large bunny!

 



10 Months

Well, we are no longer in the single digits. :(  Sawyer is now 10 months old!  And...drum roll please... HE HAS A TOOTH!!!  We didn't think he would ever cut his first tooth.  Apparantly he has handled it very well because we didn't even know it was coming through until he bit down on my cheek and I felt it.  Hopefully that will be the case for the whole teething process!  Sawyer is now eating meats including chicken, turkey, beef and salmon!  I still haven't found anything he won't eat.  He's practically "running" behind his "walker" but still doesn't have the courage to let go.  He babbles, sings and cackles like crazy.  He is super busy and always on the go.  It's definitely harder to keep up with him these days.  In fact, the pictures were nearly impossible to get.  Take 396!
